The Foundation has received monetary donations from across the state; as well as Oregon for the victims of the Weed Fire. We also received a private donation from Red Bluff, California for the victims of the Happy Camp Fire. We were able to help three victims with housing during evacuations; as well as one victim who lost their home. The Foundation is so grateful for our generous neighboring friends in Red Bluff, thank you.
The Shasta View Gallery & Gift Shoppe has received financial support from travelers passing through Weed and they didn’t even have to ask customers if they would like to round up their change when making a purchase to help the victims. Not only are there customers rounding up their change, but they are writing checks and giving generously! We would love to thank Cindy and Mark Stensaas for accepting donations and asking our Foundation to distribute the funds. We also would like to thank their friendly staff, especially Stacey and Kevin for speaking on our behalf. Thank you!!
The Sheriff Lopey Foundation has been giving the donations directly to the victims as soon as it is received. Board members are also contributing their physical help and personal items to help the victims. The Foundation has given back 100% of the donations to the community.
The Foundation is financially helping Weed Pride on October 31st with the Weed Harvest Festival at the College of the Siskiyous. The Elementary School normally hosts the event but due to the fire damage it sustained they were unable to have event. The neighborhoods around the school were also damaged. Therefore the Weed Pride organization was able to find the new location and decided to host this event. We will have a popcorn machine and table at the event. The Foundation plans to continue to support all the upcoming events in efforts to rebuild Weed.
Stand strong Weed and Happy Camp! We will continue to support you!
